Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic medical practice that dates back to about 2500 years ago. It incorporates Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, and other modalities. It focuses on the interaction of all body systems to restore and maintain the health and well being of the whole person -- body, mind, and spirit.
Acupuncture is performed by inserting hair-thin needles into specific locations on the body. The needles are sterile, individually packaged, and never resused.
At Holistic Living we use glass cups of various sizes made specifically to perform "cupping". The technique causes a vacum to be created, adhearing the cups to the body. Cupping feels much like a firm massage.
Tui Na is a form of massage. At Holistic Living Tui Na is sometimes used as part of an overall treatement.
Moxibustion, moxa for short, is the use of the plant mugwort to bring warmth to points on the body. Though never placed directly on the skin, moxa feels warms much like a heating pad.
We have protocols for:
* Stop Smoking
* Weight Maintenance
* Energy Booster

Your practitioner may want to prescribe herbs as part of your treatment. Make sure your practitioner is certified in herbal medicine.
Make sure you take an herbal formula exactly as you are instructed to. Just like other medications, you should not share your herbal formula with others and you should discard of unused portions.
Never self medicate! Even though herbs are "natural" they can be harmful if taken incorrectly.
The herbal formula you receive from your licensed practitioner is of top quality. Practitioners use suppliers who do not sell to the public. Do not be tempted to purchase herbs off the Internet; this can be dangerous.
